Moses said that man cannot live only by eating food, man must also live by every word which God speaks. The Lord Jesus Christ taught that Moses spoke the truth when he wrote this, Deuteronomy 8.3; Matthew 4.4.

What does the Bible say about itself?

1. The Bible is important.
God will surely fulfill the promises of Scripture, Mark 14.49; Luke 22.37; 24.44; Acts 1.16.
God will punish anyone who adds to the words of this Book, or takes away from them, Revelation 22.18,19.

2. The Bible is powerful.
It is living and active. It is able to reveal man?’s thoughts and desires, Hebrews 4.12.

3. The Bible is attractive.
You will love the Bible when you read it every day. You will be like the man of God who said that he loved God’s law and kept thinking about it all day long, Psalm 119.97. The Lord Jesus taught that we will surely be His disciples if we continue to keep His words, John 8.31. There is a blessing for all who hear the word of God and keep it, Luke 11.28.

So this book FEED ON MY WORD will show you many of the blessings which we can get from the Bible, the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures. I hope that it will help you to love God’s Word better than ever.

We will consider thirty of these blessings from the Scripture. You will read thirty chapters, and each one is divided into smaller sections.

Everyone must be born again from above, and this is the first blessing from Scripture. We are born again by the Word of God, 1 Peter 1.23. The Scripture is like seed, which has life in itself and can grow. Seed sometimes can turn bad and be destroyed. This cannot happen to the Word of God; it is living and will last forever. The Word of God is like God Himself: God can never die, Romans 1.23; 1 Timothy 1.17; He is living and will live forever; His Word is the same, 1 Peter 1.23.

We are born again from above, by the will of God, James 1.18. It is God’s will and it is through the Word of truth, the Scripture and the Gospel. We are not born again by the act of any man, nor by our own will, nor by the will of man, John 1.13.

The Lord Jesus did many miracles here on earth, and the Spirit led John to record some of them. The Spirit’s desire was that those who read might believe that Christ is the Son of God. By believing men receive life, the new life, they are born again. Again this is through the written Word of God, John 20.31.

The Lord Jesus taught that no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit, John 3.5. Water here does not mean being baptized; water is a word picture of Scripture, as we see in Ephesians 5.26. We must be saved by faith. You hear the Gospel, you believe it is the Word of God, 1 Peter 1.25, you are born again, John 5.24.

This is the work of the Holy Spirit of God; we are born of the Spirit, John 3.6,8. We are born of God; we should never sin against God our Father, I John 3.9; 5.18.

Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ is a great blessing of Scripture. The word is able to save your souls, James 1.21.

The Lord Jesus plants His Word in our hearts, Matthew 13.37; Mark 4.14. The Word is able to save our souls because it brings us the message of salvation. It is not enough just to own a Bible, or to read it, or to learn it so you can say many verses without reading it. The Bible is able to save but you must receive its message by faith.

This faith is to help us throw off the bad and sinful habits and humbly receive the Word which God puts in our hearts, James 1.21. This means saving us every day from the power of sin, the old habits which seem to be so strong.

The word salvation has three meanings in the New Testament:

1. The Lord saves us from our sin so we do not have to pay the debt, Jesus paid it all. This is when you first accept Him as your Savior. The gospel is the power of God for salvation, Romans 1.16.

2. Still we have all the old nature and our sinful habits. God the Spirit can save us continually from the power of sin, Romans 6.14. In this way we are receiving salvation every day, 1 Peter 1.9.

3. We still have our natural bodies and the desires of the flesh. But when Christ comes He will change our bodies and take away the old sinful nature forever, Philippians 3.21. We will be like Him, 1 John 3.2. Then our salvation will be complete.
It is to us that this word of salvation has been sent, Acts 13.26.

God has sent His word of salvation to Israel and to the whole world. The Lord Jesus Christ brought it first, Hebrews 2.3. His apostles also taught that it was true, and we have their words written in the New Testament. The Lord commanded us to preach the good news which brings salvation to those who believe, Mark 16.15,16. The Word brings or offers salvation to all, but this blessing comes only through believing the truth, 2 Thessalonians 2.13. The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul, Psalm 19.7.

The sinner has left the right way and believers sometimes wander from God’s path. The Good Shepherd brings us back by the Word of the LORD, Psalm 23.3. God’s law is able to make the sinner afraid, Romans 3.19, and lead him to the Savior, Galatians 3.24. Christians learn to love the Lord and have no desire to break His law. The Lord brought Peter back after he denied that he even knew Jesus, Luke 22.32, and we should all try to bring another believer back to the Lord, James 5.19,20.

We have seen three meanings of the word salvation above. Salvation comes through God’s Word or law, for sinner and believer also. Thank the Father for this blessing from Scripture.

You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free, John 8.32.

The Jews thought that they were free because they were descendants of Abraham and never were slaves to anyone, John 8.33. Actually, Judah had been ruled by Gentile kings for over 600 years: Babylon, Persia, Egypt, Greece, Syria, Rome. But the Lord Jesus was speaking about being slaves to sin.

We have seen that the Word saves us from the power of sin. We were really slaves of sin, because we gave our bodies and minds to the ?pleasures? of sin, Romans 6.16. Satan and the world deceived us into thinking such things as: “There is nothing wrong in this”; “Everybody does the same thing”; and “A little pleasure will never hurt anyone.”

We listened and believed the lie. Soon, we were in the habit of sin, and could not get free from it.

Now we learn that the truth can make us free. The Word of God is truth, John 17.17. The Lord Jesus Christ said that He is the Truth, and the Son can make us really free, John 8.36; 14.6. The truth is in Jesus, Ephesians 4.21.

We heard the word of truth when we heard the Gospel, Ephesians 1.13; Colossians 1.8. The Spirit of truth gave the apostles wisdom to write the New Testament. In John’s gospel, the Lord Jesus said that the Spirit would:

- help them remember what Jesus taught them, 14.26; 15.26, so they could write the gospels;
- teach them all things, 14.26, and guide them into all truth, 16.13, so they could write the epistles;
- show them things to come, 16.13, so John could write the book of Revelation, and others also could say what will come in the end times.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8.2.

Millions of people think that they can earn their way to heaven by keeping the law. This is neither possible nor necessary, Galatians 2.16; Titus 3.5, but these persons are slaves to the law. The truth of Scripture can set them free, Romans 6.14; 7.6.

We have seen that we are born again from above, we are saved, we get freedom, all through the Word of God, but only if we believe it. Some people say that they are not able to believe. They would be glad to learn that faith is another blessing we can have from the Scripture. Faith comes from hearing .... the Word of God, Romans 10.17.
Faith is a gift from God, which He offers to all men, Ephesians 2.8. That is, God does not punish all men at once when they commit sin. He gives us the opportunity to hear the Word, and to believe it. The more you read the Bible, the stronger your faith will become.

Many people cannot read, millions do not have the Bible in their own language. Still they can hear the Good News and believe it. Many more believed because of His word, John 4.41.

The woman of Samaria heard the words of Christ, she believed, and went and told others. They believed her at least enough to come to see Christ for themselves. Then they heard the Lord speaking, and they said they believed, John 4.39-42.

Today the Lord Jesus Christ is in heaven and we cannot hear Him speaking as a Man. We can read what He said in the Bible and this is the way to get faith and more faith. These things are written that you may believe, John 20.31.

God has given us His message in written form, a book, so that we may have faith and believe in Him. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, Hebrews 11.6.

The whole Bible is about Christ:

The Old Testament tells us that He would come.
The four Gospels tell us what He said and did.
The rest of the New Testament teaches us the meaning of Christ’s work.

Thank God for the Holy Bible and the gift of faith.
